He who is, alike to foe and friend, in honour and
dishonour, heat and cold, pleasure and pain,
praise and blame, free from attachment, thoughtful,
contented with any means of subsistence available,
having no attachment to his living place,
firm in mind, such a devotee, is dear to me.

जो शत्रु-मित्र, मान-सम्मान, सर्दी-गर्मी, सुख-दुख आदि द्वन्द्व,
निन्दा-स्तुति को समान समझने वाला और आसक्ति से
रहित, मननशील, जीवन-निर्वाह के प्रयाप्त साधन से सदा
ही संतुष्ट, रहने के स्थान में ममता-आसक्ति से रहित,
वह स्थिर-बुद्धि, भक्तिमान मनुष्य मुझको प्रिय है।
